Are you interested in finance and how it affects society? Does the role of the UK in Europe grab your attention? Are you keen to meet students from other great universities and spend a weekend in Paris? If you answered yes to any of the above, then please read on.

On the 15-16th of March, the Franco-British Connections are organising a joint French-UK event comparing the financial sectors of both countries. This event is being organised by ESSEC (one of the top business schools in France) and many of the other top universities in France and Great-Britain (including Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Imperial College and UCL in the UK, Assas, Ecole Polytechnique, Sciences Po, HEC, ESSEC, ENS and the Sorbonne in France).

For this weekend, over 80 students will come together for a weekend of keynote speeches, networking, discussion workshops and evening entertainment. The highlight of the event will be a reception in the beautiful Salons of the “Residence de l’Ambassadeur”, hosted by H.E. Sir Peter Forbes Rickett, Ambassador of Great-Britain and Northern Ireland to France.

Beforehand, there will be a networking lunch with Axelle Lemaire (tbc), French MP for the newly created UK & Northern Europe constituency in the ESSEC La Defense campus, in the heart of the French financial district. You will then be addressed by Mr. Pierre Tapie (President of the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles), and Sir Howard Davies (former Director of the LSE and former executive Chairman of the FSA), who will be giving their views on the financial sectors of France and Great-Britain. Following this, you will be involved in one of 6 workshops along with 15-20 other students in which you will discuss one of the proposed themes on our website with senior academics, public figures and industry participants. All discussions will be held in English.

To top it off, we have been granted exceptional access to the ESSEC Soirée Prestige, one of France’s most prestigious student parties which will take place in an amazing -still secret- location. Last but not least, students will have will also have free time to discover the city and the Summit will end with a guided tour of the Paris.

All together (round trip in bus, 4* Hotel, networking lunch, Embassy’s reception etc.) the week-end will only cost 100 € (around 85£). The price of the Soirée Prestige is not included but discounted tickets are reserved for participants.
